Road to Reading caters for children of different ages and stages of development. Students attend weekly classes for the duration of a school term. The Road to Reading program introduces children to phonics and builds their understanding of the letter/sound relationships. It develops their understanding about Concepts of Print (an awareness of how books and written language work) and Phonological Awareness (an understanding that spoken words are made up of sounds).

Road to Reading utilises:

  • Cued Articulation – an innovative program that uses hand gestures to support the teaching of phonics. Each gesture acts as a visual prompt and aids the child in producing the sound.

  • Elements of both Brain Gym and the Perceptual Motor Program. Through movement, children gain an understanding of the world around them and become prepared for academic learning.
